They stopped suddenly, there was a strange sound coming from the other side of the storage room, it was getting louder and closer. It was the sound of scratching coming from the inside, going down the door slowly. Millie grabbed all of the medicine quickly and stuffed it inside her bag. The door handle was drifting downwards. Georgia leaped in front of the door and slammed her hand onto the handle trying to stop it from opening. “Have you got the pills?!” She whispered.
“Yes, now c’mon let’s get the hell out of here before it gets out of hand” Replied Millie.
“Get ready” shouted Georgia as she let go of the handle, they both ran for the window on the other side of the pharmacy. The infected began to emerge out from the door that the scratching had been coming from. Georgia grabbed her knife and told Millie to smash the window, they were getting closer and closer. Millie hit and hit away at it but the window wouldn’t break, she jumped down from the ledge and landed on one of them, grabbed the knife and stabbed it in the throat. Meanwhile Georgia was thrashing one with a bottle of medicine, there was so many of them. One after the other coming through the door. Georgia said “when I’ve opened the door run!” before Millie could reply Georgia was sprinting through the infected and had smashed herself into the locked door, the skin eaters turned away from Millie and started towards Georgia. She smashed into the door over and over, Millie shouted “quick!” Grabbed the gun, aimed for the infected woman whose hand was around Georgia’s neck and shot. She fell to the ground; they all turned back at Millie. Their growls filled the air as they began to walk towards her. Georgia went into the door one last time and it finally broke to the floor, she ran up to the herd of infected and took her gun out too. They shot and shot at them until they got down to the very last one, Georgia grabbed her knife and threw it at its head, the growling stopped. There was silence; Georgia ripped her knife out of the dead dudes head looked at Millie and said “nailed it”. Millie laughed and they walked out of the shop out onto the street. "So what do you think caused Jason to be ill?" asked Millie quietly as they strolled down to the camp. "Most probably those wild berries he ate... I told him not to eat them but he wouldn’t listen" replied Georgia. "Hmm yeah probably, you know you don’t seem to be bothered by all this?"
"...all what?"
"y'know, apocalypse?!"
"Oh... well just because I don’t seem bothered doesn’t mean Im not"
Millie nodded at Georgia, just ahead of them was the park. All of the greenery was sprouting around the battered lampposts, moss was growing on everything. As they emerged towards the bridge suddenly Millie was grabbed, the peeling, bloody skin wrapped around her shoulder. Millie tried to grab her gun but she couldn’t get to it, Georgia pulled out her knife and stabbed it right in the eye, blood squirted all over Millie’s face and the skin eater dropped to the floor. "Thanks" Millie murmured as she brushed herself off and got her breath back. "Right. Lets hurry it'll be dark out soon" said Georgia as she ran off into the trees with Millie by her side.
"took you long enough" said James calmly to Millie. Millie walked up to him, he picked her up and she dropped her bag in front of Georgia as James transported her into their tent. Georgia laughed to herself and picked the bag up. As she opened a tent to find Jason asleep, she took out the medicine and put it in a bottle of water.
"Jason...hey...wake up" she whispered into his ear. His eyes slowly opened, they were still red and bloodshot.
"Hey, you okay?" asked Jason
"It should be me asking you that, here we managed to do the run for medicine" answered Georgia as she passed the bottle to him
"Thanks... so how’s the city looking?"
"Well, still pretty damn full with the infected that’s for sure. Oh and I almost forgot to give you this...” Georgia grabbed her bag and pulled out a red knife. Jason thanked
Georgia.
"So how did you even loose it anyway?" asked Georgia
"Honestly I don’t even know" he replied. Georgia pulled a blanket over Jason and told him to get some rest; she stood up and put her bag back on her back.
"Ill see you later..." she said as she walked out of the tent. it was starting to get dark outside, Georgia went over to the fire. There wasn’t any wood, "Millie!?" she shouted... there was no reply. "urgh,,, I guess ill just go and get all the wood myself then" she whispered to herself as she walked through the woods. Something about the woods made her feel uneasy, but she didn’t know why. She grabbed her knife for precaution and carried on walking towards the big lake that was a few minutes ahead. It was getting darker and colder by the minute, she wondered if she should just go back to the camp. But she was interrupted by the sound of footsteps, she ran behind a tree and took her gun out of the belt, there was no ammo..."crap" she said quietly to herself. As she put it back on her belt the steps were getting louder and closer. She still couldn’t tell if it was a skin eater or person, but then the growling began. it was a skin eater. Georgia peaked around the corner and saw it. It was a woman, her hair was all straggly and had some bald patches. Her eyes were bent back into their sockets and her mouth seemed to have blood seeping out of it. As Georgia looked lower down, she noticed a knife sticking out the side of the skin eaters left arm, her right arm wasn’t there. Its head suddenly turned towards Georgia it started to walk quickly in her direction but tripped over a branch and fell in front of her. Georgia lowered her knife and looked at the woman for a moment... "This didn’t happen long ago..." she said as her foot smashed into its skull. She bent down and pulled the knife out of its arm, looked around for any others then stood back up...
